Remembering Grandpa Bob

We hope that everyone took some time this weekend to remember all of our service men and women whose sacrifices have allowed use the freedoms that we have today. In our family that includes Grandpa Leigh Hunt, Uncle Raymond Hunt, Uncle Bill Teed, Uncle Manville Teed, Uncle Charlie Hunt, Uncle John Hunt, Grandpa Charles Parker, Uncle Don Schumate, Grandpa Warren Hilbrenner, and PawPaw Roger Hinck to name a few. Thank you for your service. We also took time to celebrate Robert Parker, Matt's dad, by having a BBQ down at our place near Hermitage. Lots of folks came out - thank you all for making it a special day - Bob would have loved having everyone there!
Everyone gathered around the memorial bench for Bob. Everyone in this picture had Bob stories to share except for little Gannon!
Bob's children (Susie, Janet, and Matt) and grandchildren (Brenner and Nola). Missing granddaughter Lauren and great-grandson Vash.
Even my dad made it down! Bob and Dad always enjoyed talking big equipment together!
Big thank yous to Mary Jane (seated) and Ken (dark shirt) our Hermitage neighbors that keep an eye out on the place we when we aren't there.
Grill master Matt!
The trail down to the memorial bench. Not sure what Nola is doing :) The bench it located in one of Bob's favorite spots to have coffee and watch the wildlife.
We finished off the day with Nola losing her second tooth!
Nola and Brenner spent Sunday afternoon having fun with water balloons!
A visitor on our back deck! It sat there all day Friday.

School's out for the SUMMER!

Wow - who can believe that school is out?! We now have a 3rd grader and kindergartner! The kids have done fabulous this year and have earned a fun summer break!
Nola at preschool graduation - we call this her Aunt Janet smile!
Nola loves to dance and sing - check out her moves!
Get it, Nola!
Pure joy!
Not sure what this is about?! Matt was watching them - just saying!
Only a handful of girls in Nola's class - but all are top notch!
The older brother's enjoyed the graduation celebration as well.
Look at these lovely girls - they look so grown up!
Nola and Ms. Gerhardt - we will miss her dearly!
Brenner at track and field day at his school. Look at that jump!
Pull!!!!!
Even Nola got in on the action.
I took some time off this week. Nola and I went to get pedicures - she loved the water!
Cute (and relaxing)!
Last day of school - my how they have grown!
Thanks, Mrs. Dixon, for everything! Brenner loved your class!
Brenner was awarded the citizenship award - go Brenner!
A nice note from Mrs. Dixon. The first line cracked me up! He is my son!
Nola also got a nice note from her teachers :)
Strawberries are here! Look at that huge one!
Brenner and Matt fought over it!
While the boys were fighting, Nola found a wrench to take the training wheels off of her old bike. Nice work, Nola!
On Sunday, we headed down to Hermitage to prep for this weekend's BBQ. We took Brenner's buddy Drystan with us.
Hot dogs for lunch!
Hiking in the creek.
Nola found a box turtle much to the boys delight.
Drystan had never been fishing - he caught a Brenner!

The end of Spring Soccer and BBQ fun

I was in Phoenix for work this week, and Nola had a bit of a rough time with me leaving. This was a bit unusual for her and made it a bit tough on me. But thanks to an awesome dad - she bounced back quickly with a busy week!
Who wouldn't miss these two?! There is something about Nola in this picture that makes my heart melt - something in her eyes.
The kids and Matt surprised me by making a porch swing for Mother's Day while I was gone. What a nice surprise!
Brenner is moving to another school building next year. He was glad that his new class will have some familiar faces!
Nola and Morgan convinced Matt to take them to the park. Here they are "talking".
The fort got moved this weekend with lots of help from Brenner! (Matt hit the fort last week with the mower so it was as good of time as any to move it to a more shady part of the yard).
The strawberries are just about ready!
Go Ravens! We all came out to support Raven's Ivar for their last game.
We were down one player but the kids still played hard.
Nola and Draco helped with Dolly. It was great to have Aunt Theresa and Uncle Chuck come out for the game. So did most of my family - a perfect day!
Brenner stealing the ball from the other team. Ivar lost but the kids have greatly improved. We will pick soccer back up later in the summer - a little break for swimming lessons!
Grandma Val, the Bynums, and the Hedgpeths came over for a BBQ after the game. It was very fun!
We had an impromptu basketball game. Gannon wanted in the action!
Brenner didn't want me on his team - saying "I want someone good". That made most of us laugh, and even Colten told Brenner "You know, your mom was pretty good." Later, Brenner apologized to me. It was hard to defend Krystee - didn't want to hit the baby bump!!!!
Gannon going in for a slam dunk!
Nola also working on her dribbling skills!
Brenner loves when Colten is around.
After the game, we rode scooters. Um - Austin - you aren't suppose to pop wheelies!
Love this worksheet that Brenner did. I love "I pretend I'm weird". Then "I feel weird". Hahaha.
School is wrapping up but the kids are working on fractions.
