When I was a little boy......

....is what Brenner tells us sometimes when he starts a story. We have heard a lot of cute things from BHP this past week....he also talks about "last day" instead of "yesterday". The other day Brenner told me that he loves preschool. I was so happy to hear that BHP has adjusted so well to it! They must be learning about rhyming words because he informed me that "ink and sink rhyme". Superheros, especially Spiderman, continue to be among his favorite things these days. Nola is doing great - many smiles and gurgles that make us laugh. She is about ready for solids as her mouth will move with your as you chew :)
While looking at my flowers, I was delighted to see some blooms! Yeah, Spring!!!!
Brenner, Papa, and Nola giving me some smiles. She is sitting like a pro now - only took a couple of days!
Nola enjoys taking walks - evidently it is very relaxing!
Who is that caped crusader.......
It's super Brenner!!!! A friend made him a cape for his birthday and BHP got a real kick out of wearing it the other day. Brenner is endlessly talking about cryptonite, batmobiles, and the fact that spiderman doesn't have a theme song.
This picture is hilarious...Brenner had just said "I don't mind if I have more ice cream, mommy." I suppose you wouldn't, little guy. So when we get home from work, Brenner shouts "I am going to put on my jammies". We try to convince him not too since we want to go outside and play but we chose our battles. (And I figure if this gets him to dress himself, then it is really a learning tool!) So most evenings Brenner seems to be in jammies by 5:30 pm.
Grandma and her Nonie-bear. Remember Nola and her poocanos? Well it seems that her favorite spot to do this is in the bouncer (usually while we are trying to eat dinner). Well when this happens, Matt and I sing "Let's get vertical" (to the tune of "Let's get physical" by Olivia Newton John - wow never thought she would make it into my blog) so that we don't have a poocanoo eruption. So now when Brenner hears Nola, he informs us "Let's get vertical, mommy!" What a big helper!
Tickle time with Papa!

What a proud Papa. Nola, just wait until you are a teenager and dating.....I feel sorry for those boys already!
Brenner doing a buddy dive. Listen at the end for when his head thunks on the floor. No one was injured in the making of this video (but mommy did put the kibosh on jumping off the furniture...I know party pooper).

Sitting on our own

Big week for Nola.....so the rolling thing took some time for her but she can already sit on her own for short amounts of time! How is it possible that she is growing so quickly? She also has entered the realm of poocanos. We thought Brenner was the master but I think Nola has him beat.....there is usually at least one blowout per day which Matt and I hope falls to Grandma :) Brenner has been a constant stream of energy - mostly good :) BHP made a few observations this week that I thought I would share. We were trimming our plum tree when Brenner noted "It is sad because it wants to be short." We also found out that when he grows up "I want to be a teacup" and that "When I get 5 years old, I will be grown up!".
Here is our little thinker. There is just something about this picture that really captures the essence of Brenner's personality - yet I don't know if I can describe it using words. We really love this guy!!!!
Happy Birthday, Mommy! I had a wonderful birthday with a day at the spa (thank you Matt!!!) and then some leisurely (yes - I sort of felt that way but as a mom of little ones you are always planning your next move!) shopping. Matt got a oh-so-yummy oreo ice cream cake. Nola is happy because she doesn't realize that she isn't getting any yet :) Brenner loved it (and Mommy and Papa did too)!
Nola playing with one of her favorite toys right now. Yes -she retains the red hair thus far :)
Look at this big girl sitting on her own! Check out the chubby rolls. My friend Andi's dad once said something that always makes me laugh when I think of it - "This is the only time that rolls are cute on girls". Nola's are cute don't you think?! Now here is Nola happy (remember how I said she can only sit on her own for a little bit)......
A few moments later.....Mommy attempting to catch Nola before she face plants it into the floor/mirror. No one was hurt, rest assured! Nola does like looking at herself in the mirror and I love to make funny faces at her and watch her reactions.
A big beautiful smile! (Also known as a full tummy)
Not sure how this can be comfortable!
Brenner and Nola in Brenner's home (area under the dining room table). We were playing when Brenner told me "I will watch Nola for you for a little while, momma". And he was serious! So sweet.
Brenner really does like playing with her and Nola adores her bother, watching him all the time! Like he told me the other day, "I am your superhero, mommy!" And boy, is he!
