A few of his favorite things

Brenner is always good for a laugh. He is really like a sponge. Momma has a plant that has leaves that falls off so he has learned to take them and put them in the trash can. The other day, momma and papa got home with groceries at dinner time. Momma was rushing around and Brenner wanted "yum-yums". In a hurry, momma gave him a piece of spinach to at least interest him for a few minutes. BHP looked at it, then took it to the trash can and threw it away as it looked like one of the plant leaves- smart little squirt! Brenner is battling a cold this week - nose is running like a faucet and his molars on the bottom are about to poke through - pray it happens soon as he is truly living up to his namesake.
Brenner LOVES to dance. This is his stayin' alive move. Right now his favorites are Elmopalooza (thanks Aunt Lynnie) and Judds Greatest Hits (don't laugh - it is really good).
Brenner wrestling with Emi. He also got a toy cell phone which he likes to hold up to Emi's ear. He also thinks she can high-five - we keep telling him she truly is a dog, honey.
Silly boy - he loves this shape sorter that Grammy Vo gave him for Christmas although doesn't always use it as intended. He can fit the shapes in but we still have to tell him which one they go in.
Playing with one of his Melissa and Doug wooden puzzles - love these things. Although this pose seems to beg the question "Will the gladiator get the thumbs up or down?"
Regardless of how you voted, this was truly history in the making. Brenner and momma watched the inauguration of President Obama. These pictures will be neat to show him when he is old enough to recognize the significance of this event.

Discovery time

Brenner is curious about everything. He repeats words that you say and actions that you do. Tonight he thought watching momma brush her teeth was particularly hilarious. He also tried to skip which consisted of him lifting up one knee and then the other. Too cute. We don't let him watch tv but we have started recording the Planet Earth series and have that on once in a while. BHP loves when they show animals running and frolicking. Yesterday, Aunt Mellie babysat and the report was that Brenner did pretty good with his girlfriend Reagan. He would get upset - then hear the music on the tv. At that point he would stop crying and start dancing - what a little booger! Thanks so much for watching him, Aunt Mellie!
Papa and Uncle Chris took Brenner to a western store to look at the dead things hanging on the wall :) This picture was priceless - shoot 'em up partner!
The potty! Grandma Val said go ahead and get one and she would work with him. Brenner was really curious about it. He looked at it and said "pee" - we said "yes"! It is in the bathroom and he will sit on it if you are in there with him (with his clothes on - he just likes to watch you while he is sitting on it). He knows that when you are done you wash your hands as he rubs his hands together - it is a start!
We ate some persimmon bread for a snack. When he was finished he picked up his plate and licked it - not one little crumb wasted!
BHP is very curious about the clippers - but will allow you to only clip one at a time before having to hold it for a second himself.
To our amazement - he picked up his wooden whistle from Aunt Lynnie and started blowing in it! It was like he was an old pro whistler! Funny the things momma and papa go nuts over!

Welcome 2009!

This year is only three days old but much has already been accomplished. We renovated our master bathroom - thank goodness Matt is part plumber, carpenter, and electrician! It turned out really nice - Brenner even did well as we spent the time at the store picking out the vanity and mirror. Today is also the day that BHP turns 14 months old - can you believe it?! Back to work on Monday - I think Grandma Val is ready to see her buddy bear on a more regular basis!
I swear I didn't do it......Brenner spent today at the gun show with papa but was still wound up when he got home despite the lack of naps. He likes playing peek a boo behind your back. If you have a blanket he will say "peek" and lift it up to come and find you.
New Year's Day at Grandma Val's was fun. Grandma Val is doing some cleaning and pulls out PawPaw Roger's old army gear.
